We’re delighted to offer this unique opportunity for Primary and Secondary teachers to take part in a practical workshop with Cecily O’Neill, an international authority on process drama and arts in education.

This practical workshop will consider ways of generating complex dramatic worlds through process drama. Strategies for deepening and extending the students’ engagement will be included as we work through a particular fictional situation. Techniques to assist the teacher in initiating and maintaining the drama world will be explored.

Working in process drama engages the creativity of the students, promotes imaginative responses, and increases cooperation and language use. The range of roles that may arise will require students to adopt a variety of attitudes and consider the topic from multiple perspectives, as well as relating the fictional world to the reality of the society in which they live. Ideally, they will emerge from the drama with an enhanced sense of their own capacities and the possibilities that lie ahead of them.

The possibilities for further learning activities – for example writing, research and performance – will be included.

After the workshop, join us for a buffet and drinks reception with TiE Alumni from the last 50 years, to launch the conference.

Workshop tickets £35 including attendance at the celebratory drinks and buffet reception immediately afterwards.
