When it was first staged last year This Is My Family became the best-selling show in the history of Sheffield’s Crucible Studio and won the UK Theatre Award for Best Musical.

“This is my family. That was the competition. All I had to do was describe my family and I could win a dream holiday. Ok, so I lied through my teeth and made them all sound perfect, but who cares! I won! I can take them to Rio! To Florida! Acapulco!”

Instead, 13 year-old Nicky Perry chose pretty much the last holiday her family were expecting, but one she hoped might just stop them from falling apart. Out in the wilds her dream soon becomes a nightmare. But a secret lies buried in this place which will change things forever.

This fast-paced, laugh-out-loud and hugely moving new musical from Tim Firth, the writer of Calendar Girls, goes to the heart of the question: what exactly is the point of family in the modern age?
