Following a hugely successful run in 2010, the Belgrade’s smash-hit FA Cup drama, We Love You City, is back to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Coventry City FC’s historic win!
It’s 3pm on 16 May 1987 and the streets of Coventry are deserted. But not for long…
Those not in pubs, or around their TV sets, were running to get there and what followed was two hours that changed the city forever. A match packed with drama, which seemed to sum up the spirit of Coventry – determination, inventiveness, diversity and struggle.
Against all the odds and expectations on that fateful day, Coventry City FC achieved the ultimate goal – they won the FA Cup. The streets were soon awash with a sea of sky blue as the people of Coventry united in victory.
Eleven players take centre stage to recreate the events of the final and tell the funny, edgy, moving, and sometimes farcical stories that were playing out in Coventry during those nail-biting 90 minutes – plus a bit of extra time!
To coincide with We Love You City our chef has prepared some lovely pies so you can enjoy the play in true football style!
You can choose from a range of fillings including Chicken and Mushroom, Minted Lamb, Steak & Ale, Farmhouse Vegetable (V) and Vegetable Balti Pie (V). They cost just £3 and are available from the Signatures Cafe from 5pm onwards.
