Address your stress at the Belgrade

Posted on 16 May 2018

This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week (14-20 May) is hosted by the Mental Health Foundation and closely focuses on stress. Research shows that two thirds of individuals in their lifetime struggle with a mental health issue, and stress is a key factor. By tackling stress, we can go a long way to address and challenge mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

At the Belgrade we are passionate about informing individuals about the beneficial properties of the Arts.
We strongly advocate the importance of the Arts and good mental health and well-being is fundamental to our physical health, relationships, education, work and achieving our full potential.

The Belgrade Theatre offers a range of opportunities to help improve your well-being, including:

  • Our Arts Gymnasium weekly sessions – working with those aged 50 and over, on providing a safe space to express themselves through imagination and movement, together with sharing stories, staying active and making new friendships.
  • Our recent Singing for the Brain session, when over 100 people living with dementia and their carers joined in a morning of song and laughter. Part of a UK-wide initiative by the Alzheimer’s Society, Singing for the Brain uses singing to bring people together in a friendly and stimulating social environment, allowing those with dementia to express themselves and socialise with others in a fun and supportive group. 
  • Priding ourselves on being a welcoming, creative and secure space – so please feel welcome to drop in for a coffee, take some time out of your busy day and soak up the theatrical atmosphere. Our staff are super friendly and we love welcoming new and returning faces to the Belgrade. 
  • A selection of productions, covering many genres, to totally immerse yourself in the escapism of theatre. To find out what’s on, please click here
  • Community and education workshops for children, young people and emerging creatives.
  • Supporting your local theatre, and cultural hub, by making a donation towards the Belgrade’s charitable work.

The Belgrade Theatre Trust (Coventry) Ltd is a registered charity (no 219163). As such, all the money given, raised or earned is not distributed as profit, but kept and reinvested back into our work – so thank you for your support.
