Autumn drama classes at the Belgrade

Posted on 23 October 2014

The Autumn term of Drama Classes has begun and for the first time ever, the Belgrade are also offering Adult Masterclasses. This means that the Belgrade’s Community & Education Company now offer participation opportunities for people of all ages from 8 – 85.

This term, participants are working with a professional drama practitioner at the Belgrade to develop their performance skills, focusing on the theme of Musical Theatre. This theme was chosen to reflect the strong emphasis on musical shows within the Belgrade’s Autumn Season.

Community Arts Apprentice, Emma Maddern has been supporting the sessions and said, “I’m really enjoying the musical theatre classes at the Belgrade. The leader of our group is an expert in this field of theatre which has been a real inspiration to us, and I’ve especially loved how she’s given us the opportunity to get creative about what we want to make our performance about. This meant we’ve been spending time on improvisation, character building and discussing subject matter that feel relevant to us. Overall the sessions have developed my skills as a performer, allowing me to hone my acting and musical skills together, as well as being fun, dynamic and interesting.”
