Posted on 28 October 2015

The biggest business networking event in Coventry, Warwickshire & Solihull is being held on Tuesday 12 January 2016. Organised by the FSB in conjunction with the Belgrade Theatre. Last year we saw over 250 businesses come together for the best networking breakfast of 2015. Not only is this event great for local businesses but it also helps to support the Belgrade Theatre Trust.

The event will kick off with a networking breakfast at 7.15am, followed by the exhibition at 9am until 3pm. Attendance at the expo, breakfast & seminars is FREE and registration for the breakfast and seminars is now open via Booking is essential!

This year’s programme of exciting seminars include our key note entrepreneur speaker Steph Cutler from Making Lemonade. Steph has a commercial background and has travelled internationally while working in the highly competitive fashion industry. She has worked in designing, marketing, buying and sales for companies such as Ted Baker and suppliers to Marks and Spencer. In 2003 she experienced unexpected sight loss. As a result she set up Making Lemonade which this year celebrates its tenth year. Steph created her business with no contacts, no money and no experience but now runs a growing, successful business.

Steve Orchard from Quidem will be asking “What’s so special about your business?” Most marketing investment is a waste of money because businesses focus on things that don’t improve their competitive position. This seminar will look at local businesses that got their initial marketing wrong – and how they put things right. It will challenge you to work out what position your business should own in your customer’s mind so that you don’t waste your marketing investment again.

Sandra Garlick from De Marco Business Advisors will be helping firms network for success. This interactive seminar will help business owners make the most of their networking and ensure that they are attending the right events, meeting their target customers, building trusted relationships and gaining new work.

Anne Butler from FSB Insurance Services will make sure businesses are protected. The level of insurance a business needs can be mind-blowing. Many firms will have thought about professional and public liability requirements, but will not have considered how their business, products and services will be affected by a dishonest employee or hacking of their IT. Some Directors even believe that they cannot personally suffer financial loss.

Tracey Hudson from HR Dept will encourage businesses to feel the fear of tribunals and do it anyway! This is an essential seminar for any employer. They will learn how to deal with under-performing staff, how to handle disciplinary & grievance hearings and how to manage a dismissal without fear of tribunal.

Justine Themen from the Belgrade Theatre will run a team building workshop. Strong relationships between staff is especially important to small teams and companies. This fun taster session will give businesses a flavour of how the same skills and techniques developed through professional theatre production, can help support the development of communications skills, collaborative problem solving and confidence in working together as a group.

Sean Farnell from Burgis & Bullock will give tips on getting paid in full, on time! This session is aimed at businesses that have ever struggled to collect money that was rightfully theirs, or worse still had a bad debt? It will look at some of the real-world ways in which small businesses are encouraging their customers to pay in full, on time, every time, without resorting to debt collectors or factoring agents.

Liz Kats from Noisegate Media will help businesses make Smartphones and Tablets work for their business. Smartphone’s and Tablets are a major part of society, but many business owners are yet to fully explore how they can help their business. This seminar will provide you with the tools to manage your business on the go. From project management, efficiency, accounting software and marketing, also highlighting how you can use your mobile devices to manage or measure your social media activity.

Michael Thomas from BlueEyed Digital Marketing Ltd will be getting firms to do a marketing ‘fitness’ test and New Year’s business resolutions. Every year people come up with their New Year’s resolutions. Some they keep and some they don’t. Either way, quite often, they’re fitness related. In this highly interactive seminar we will explore the marketing methods, tools and even identify some useful performance benchmarks to consider. Simply, we’ll identify and explore the key marketing ‘exercises’ businesses should consider if you want to make their business fit for growth in 2016.

And finally, Simon Caughey-Rogers from Training 4 Progress will be helping firm with their customer service, go the extra mile without the extra cost!

For anyone looking to exhibit, we have only 3 stands available. Please contact Graham Aylott, Development Officer at the Belgrade Theatre on 024 7684 6750.
