CLOSED Crongton Knights announces open auditions

Posted on 17 July 2019

THIS CASTING CALL IS NOW CLOSED.

Fancy performing on our B2 Stage? We’re really excited to be offering a fantastic opportunity for young actors to perform in our forthcoming co-production of Crongton Knights.

Based on the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize-winning book by Alex Wheatle, Crongton Knights tells the story of a group of teenagers from a South London estate who set out on a journey to help a friend in need.

We’re now seeking a group of people to play the teenagers in the show by submitting an audition video via the link below.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

In order to audition, you will need to be aged 18 or over by January 2020.

You will need to be available for rehearsals and performances from January-May 2020.

We are also looking to recruit people with the following specific skills:

  • physical theatre
  • beatboxing
  • singing/music

You don’t need to have experience in ALL of these areas to audition, but you should be able to demonstrate strengths in AT LEAST one of them, in addition to demonstrating acting skills.

HOW TO APPLY

1) Choose a character from the character breakdown by downloading the pdf from the right hand side of this page or viewing it online HERE

2) Find their text on the script sheet by downloading the pdf from the right hand side of this page or viewing it online HERE

3) Create a short video- the whole video must be no more than 2 minutes 30 seconds total.

  • Introduce yourself with two short sentences
  • Perform your chosen character’s speech
  • A short piece of either singing or beatboxing (this is not necessary if your key skill is physical theatre).
  • Save the video file and name it with YOUR NAME.

4) Submit your video online by clicking this link

Please note that you do not need a high quality camera to apply for this opportunity, a video filmed on a smartphone or webcam is fine. We want to see you perform! If for any reason you have difficulties submitting your video via the form, please contact info@pilot-theatre.com.

The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Wednesday 31 July.

Due to a high volume of submissions we regret that we will be unable to contact everyone who applies. If you have not heard from Pilot Theatre by Friday 6th September this means unfortunately on this occasion you have been not been selected for a further audition.

Crongton Knights is produced by the Belgrade Theatre, Pilot Theatre, Derby Theatre and York Theatre Royal. The story is adapted for the stage by Emteaz Hussain and directed by Corey Cambell and Esther Richardson.

Crongton Knights makes its world premiere at the Belgrade Theatre 8-22 February 2019 as part of our B2 Season of Love and Belonging. Tickets are available to book now.
