Did you know... the Belgrade’s new season kicks off next week?
Next Saturday (8th September) sees the start of the Autumn 2012 Season here at the Belgrade Theatre.
The season kicks of with a Belgrade Production; Fragile, a brutally compelling, new drama from BAFTA award-winning, Coventry writer, Geoff Thompson. The play’s director, Nick Bagnall, says:
“Fragile is challenging and dangerous as well as being extraordinary in its poetry and theatricality. As a new play it deals with a domestic situation in epic proportions. Geoff is an incredible writer and being a Coventry lad, it makes perfect sense to do Fragile here at the Belgrade.”
Fragile is closely followed by another Belgrade production; 20th Century Boy, a musical inspired by the life of Marc Bolan and features some of the greatest rock songs ever written.
Both productions show the versatility of the Belgrade and its commitment to work with local artists, developing challenging pieces of theatre, and providing entertainment to the people of Coventry.
Fragile and 20th Century Boy are supported by a strong season of touring productions and other Belgrade shows including, Dark at the Top of the Stairs, Sleeping Beauty and Crackers ensuring that the Belgrade continues to offer something for everyone.
We’ve got some great visiting shows with us this season too, including Calendar Girls, starring Lesley Joseph and Sue Holderness, the Ike and Tina Turner musical Soul Sister, John Chapman’s comedy Dry Rot and all male Shakespeare company Propeller are returning with Twelfth Night. See what else is coming up in the What’s On page.
