Did you know... we are encouraging a new generation of theatre goers?
We’re keen to engage with new audiences and encourage young people to develop a lifelong relationship with the Belgrade and with the arts in general. We believe that the arts can improve people’s lives and that drama is a powerful tool for the building of creative, confident individuals, and communities with a strong sense of local identity.
We encourage young people to engage in the arts in a variety of ways, from staging productions for young people, offering free tickets for 19-25’s and through offering participatory drama workshops via our Community & Education Company. Another way in which the Belgrade aims to engage young people is through the 555 Competition.
As part of our recent 5th Anniversary events, we launched the 555 Competition, a competition offering 5 year olds the chance to win 5 free tickets for 5 shows every year for 5 years. The lucky winners have now been drawn, informed of their success and are busy picking the shows they want to see.
In addition to seeing 5 shows a year until they are 10 years old, the winners are asked to review the shows that they have seen, whether that be a drawing, a poem, a video or in writing. So not only are the Belgrade developing the next generation of theatre goers but also theatre critics.
Winners of the 555 Competition:
- Samuel Holt
- Rosie Louise Guard
- Zack Oakley
- Ben Higginson
- Hugo Sandilands
