February Half-Term Fun at the Belgrade

Posted on 17 February 2018

School’s out, but the show must go on! If you’re looking for things to do with the family this February half-term, then look no further. Here at the Belgrade Theatre, we’ve got a week packed with hilarious performances and hands-on activities to keep kids occupied throughout the break.

First up, on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 February, our Community and Education team will be kicking off the fun with a brand new Half-Term Holiday Camp where kids aged 8-13 can take part in practical drama workshops. Running from 10.30am until 4pm each day, the camp ends with a chance for children to showcase what they’ve worked on to family and friends at 4pm on Tuesday.

With Valentine’s Day just behind us, this latest session will be taking inspiration from matters of the heart, with participants asked to think about the things they love when developing character stories. Lunch is not provided so please bring along a packed lunch or some money for the café, and be sure to dress in comfortable clothing. We also recommend bringing plenty of water to drink throughout the day. Find out more at www.belgrade.co.uk/event/education-february-camp-2018-ages-8-13.

Then from Tuesday 20 until Saturday 24 February, acclaimed Gangsta Granny and Horrible Histories producers Birmingham Stage Company will take over our Main Stage with a new adaptation of David Walliams’ Awful Auntie. Timothy Speyer takes the title role in this awfully good new show, appearing alongside Harry Potter and Basil Brush star Georgina Leonidas as her unfortunate niece Stella.

When Stella Saxby sets out on a trip to London with her parents, she little suspects that her life could be in danger. After a mysterious incident knocks her out unconscious, Stella wakes up three months later to find herself in the clutches of her terrible Aunt Alberta and her watchful pet owl Wagner, with Lord and Lady Saxby nowhere to be found. Can Stella escape her awful aunt and discover the truth about what happened to her mum and dad? Don’t miss your chance to find out in this gripping tale of fights, frights and friendship at the Belgrade Theatre! Book your tickets online now at www.belgrade.co.uk/event/awful-auntie.

Finally, on Wednesday 21 February, our regular Half-Term Family Fun Day will be returning with free fun and games throughout the day from 10.30am until 4pm. Join us for storytelling, drama games, arts and crafts and more, all themed around our forthcoming family shows, including Awful Auntie and a new production of Julia Donaldson’s What the Ladybird Heard. Plus, don’t forget to take part in our Family Trail for a chance to win tickets to Awful Auntie on Thursday 22 February. Find out more at www.belgrade.co.uk/event/half-term-family-fun-day.
