Making Memories helps families enjoy Horrible Histories Live

Posted on 4 June 2018

Last year, thanks to the kind support of audiences, corporate partners, staff, Belgrade members and Barclays Bank (Coventry branch) we raised a record- breaking £10,822 in aid of our Making Memories campaign. This enabled us to offer 761 Cinderella tickets to 170 local families facing difficult circumstances.

Amazingly, your support meant we exceeded our target by a staggering £3,622, allowing us to offer an additional 93 tickets for families in need to attend Horrible Histories: More Best of Barmy Britain, presented by Birmingham Stage Company.

Last week, these families visited the Belgrade and travelled back in time to meet vicious Vikings, revolting Romans and vile Victorians. Thanks to our generous Making Memories donors these families experienced the joy and excitement of live theatre, a luxury which they would have been otherwise unable to afford.

Here’s what some of the families had to say:

“We haven’t laughed so much in a long time, thank you for the experience.”

“Life can be very unkind, thank you for showing us people do care, and we had a lovely time thank you.”

We would like to say a huge thank you to Birmingham Stage Company, the dedicated agencies who work with local families in need and to all of our amazing Making Memories donors.

Pantomime season will soon be upon us again (oh yes it will!), so if you wish to support local families facing challenging circumstances to experience the magic of theatre at the Belgrade, then please donate to our Making Memories campaign here.

The Belgrade Theatre Trust is a registered charity (number 219163). This means that all the money given, raised or earned by the Theatre is not distributed as profit but kept and reinvested in the work that we do. More information about our charitable status is available here.
