Puss in Boots calls on your suppawt for Making Memories

Posted on 22 November 2019

With Christmas lights already brightening up the city streets and Puss in Boots set to open on Wednesday 27 November, we’re once again calling on all of you cool cats of Coventry and Warwickshire to show your suppawt for our annual Making Memories appeal.

Set up in 2012, Making Memories funds opportunities for local families in need to access theatre. Over the last seven years, generous donors just like you have helped us cat-apult the campaign to success, raising enough money to enable 2,935 people (approximately 700 families) to experience the transformative power of live purr-formance. We think that’s pretty paw-some going!

As any regular visitor to the Belgrade will know, a trip to the theatre can be a magical and even life-changing experience, bringing people together and creating treasured memories that can last a lifetime. Sadly, due to a wide range of circumstances beyond their control, including financial hardship, illness or trauma, it’s also a luxury that many families simply can’t afford.

That’s where Making Memories comes in, to ensure that no child need miss out on the benefits that engaging with the arts can bring. This Christmas, we’re aiming to raise enough money to give approximately 150 families (or 600 people) the chance to enjoy an unforgettable visit to the theatre – but we need your help to hit that target!

  • A donation of just £15 will enable one child to see Puss in Boots.
  • £60 will enable one family to watch the show.

Tickets are allocated via referral through the Coventry Foodbank, with the help and support of other charitable organisations across the city.

If you’d like to support the campaign, you can donate online via our website, or call the box office on 024 7655 3055. You can also donate any spare change you might have to the bucket collections on the door when you come to see Puss in Boots.

If you’re eligible, please don’t forget to Gift Aid your donation to ensure that it goes even further!

A representative from one of our charity referral agencies said, “For the parents and carers, survivors and their siblings to be offered the opportunity of attending the theatre (some of our families have never been before), to provide them with an experience they will treasure at this devastating and very difficult time in their lives is a truly generous gift.”

After benefitting from tickets to a family show through our Making Memories campaign, one happy parent said, “To say thank you is not enough for the smile you helped place back on my children’s faces.”

The Belgrade Theatre Trust is a registered charity (number 219163).
