One Week to go until the Inspiring Curiosity Conference

Posted on 13 October 2015

Join us for an exciting programme of presentations, workshops, panel discussions and performances

With only 1 week to go until we host the Inspiring Curiosity Conference, the programme is shaping up to be extremely rich. There will be contributions from academics, theatre practitioners, Belgrade TiE Alumni, teachers, and young people. We really hope you can join us, if you haven’t already booked tickets.

You can find a full programme outline here. The contributors include Lyn Gardner (The Guardian), Iqbal Khan (the Royal Shakespeare Company), Professors Joe Winston and Jonothan Neelands (University of Warwick), Deborah Parkar-Hull (Theatre Company Blah Blah Blah), Peter Rumney and Nettie Scriven (Dragon Breath Theatre) and Tony Jackson (University of Manchester).

We’re delighted that we will be joined by alumnus members of the Belgrade’s TiE Company from throughout its history, including the founder of the company Gordon Vallins, as well as Vicky Ireland, Brian Bishop and Tag McEntagart.

Student tickets for the conference are available for just £25 per day.

Tues 20 October

A number of events will be taking place the day before the conference:
A celebratory retrospective workshop with the Belgrade TiE Alumni, facilitated by Tag McEntagart. The workshop will comprise short script and workshop extracts of Belgrade TiE shows, and shared memories of those attending – charting key moments in the growth of this innovative programme.
Cecily O’Neill will be delivering a CPD workshop for teachers and practitioners – Generating Dramatic Worlds Through Process Drama.

From 6pm we are hosting an official reception to celebrate 50 years of Theatre in Education, which will be followed by a performance of Theatre Centre’s Rise Up. Conference delegates are eligible for 40% off tickets to all October Festival performances.

Day 1 of the Inspiring Curiosity Conference will explore the ways in which TiE has impacted on theatre & education practice for the last 50 years, providing delegates with the opportunity to both experience and discuss a range of participatory practices.
