This Summer, our Youth Acting Classes will be taking place weekly on a digital platform.

Running on Saturdays, young people aged 11-16 can stretch their creativity, improve their confidence, learn new skills and make new friends! Our Youth Acting Classes have been devised in accordance with government guidelines on COVID-19.

To celebrate Coventry’s year as UK City of Culture, we will be creating an original piece of theatre, rooted right in the heart of the city. Our Summer Term of Youth Acting Classes will be exploring how we can make theatre in spaces where we might not expect theatre to be, by taking on the theme of Pop-Up Theatre. Through drama games, acting techniques, improvisation and devising, we will create our own brand-new work and find exciting ways to stage it!

Youth Acting Classes are led by experienced DBS checked practitioners in the Belgrade’s safe and professional theatre. No previous drama experience is necessary to take part. Just bring comfortable clothing and footwear, a bottle of water, and be ready to have fun!

We like to be able to send you an email before the Acting Classes begin, with all of the useful information you need to know. Therefore, please make sure you provide us with a relevant email address when you book your place.

All participants will receive additional information about what to expect under these COVID-19 circumstances ahead of the start of sessions.

In order for young people to get the most from these activities, the groups are separated by age based on school years. Participants are welcome join the 11-16 group whilst they are in Secondary school. If a young person is in Primary school, including Year 6, they can join the 8-11s group.

Please note, places are limited so early booking is essential.

At the Belgrade the safety of our customers and staff remains our top priority. When you visit the Belgrade you will find safety measures in place throughout the building, including Track and Trace, social distancing and the wearing of face coverings. We will continue to follow government guidelines and have signed up to UK Theatre’s See It Safely campaign to ensure that you can enjoy the wonderful experience of live theatre safely. Find out more about the safety measures we have in place here.
