Delve into a new perspective in this exploration of memory, family, place, and language itself with two poets whose work draws on the power of words to hold and define – and how memory and shared experience shape who we are. Includes a reading and in-conversation with both poets.

Alison Brackenbury’s richly circumstantial poems are often rooted in a rural and natural world where birds, plants, weather comes alive in poem after poem, but also in townscapes which sustain communities and preserve a strong sense of their history and what it gives them. Denise Saul’s debut, The Room Between Us explores family and identity as she tells the story of a mother’s illness and subsequent aphasia, and a daughter’s ongoing role as carer – a book finds a space for both the extraordinary and the ordinary, balancing all that is between.
