Engage in mindful craft activities with like-minded local makers from 1-3pm on Thursdays

Craft On – Needlecraft for Wellbeing aims to provide a gossip-free, emotionally and physically safe environment where people can engage in non-messy, mindful crafting activity.

The group meets regularly in our foyer from 1-3pm on Thursdays and is open to anyone to attend. Bring along your own projects to work on while enjoying the company of like-minded local crafters. We are especially  welcome people who find themselves socially isolated in the community.

Gatherings are free to attend and booking is not essential, although advance notice of attendance or any changes to your plans is appreciated – please email needlecraftforwellbeing@gmail.com or call group leaded Niki Doughty Lee on 07447 481616 for details.

Attendees are required to adhere to the Belgrade’s health and safety guidelines to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. All visitors must provide a name and contact information upon entry for the purposes of contact tracing.

Under current social distancing guidelines, the tables set up for group sessions will seat two people each at a distance of approximately 1.5 metres with no direct face-to-face contact. A strict cleaning routine is in place.

Hand sanitiser is available but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Face coverings are optional. If you would like to purchase tea, coffee or snacks from the café, please wait to be served at your table.

To help support the Belgrade Theatre through the difficult period it faces as a result of the lockdown, Craft On is also hosting a series of Pop-Up Craft Shops, where local artists and makers are invited to sell their wares in exchange for a small hosting fee. To enquire about Pop-Up Shop availability and bookings, please contact Niki by emailing needlecraftforwellbeing@gmail.com.

From time to time, the group also collaborates directly with the theatre on specific projects, such as knitting twiddle muffs for relaxed performances or making masks to encourage donations. A yarn bombing event is currently being planned – join the Yarn Mob Facebook group to find out more.
