Blitz Anniversary – Afternoon Tea and Screening

Fri 14 Nov

An afternoon Tea and a screening of One Night in November, to mark the 85th Anniversary of the Coventry Blitz.

To mark the 85th Anniversary of the Coventry Blitz we will be hosting an afternoon tea in the Belgrade’s Nineteen 58 bar, followed by a screening of our 2013 production of One Night In November, Alan Pollock’s acclaimed play that tells the story of the devastating raid on Coventry in 1940.

Please note: due to demand we have added an extra afternoon tea at 3pm with a screening at 4pm.

One Night in November is a gripping wartime love story set during the Coventry Blitz and received an overwhelming response from audiences and critics alike. Directed by former Belgrade Theatre Artistic Director, Hamish Glen, the play premiered at the Belgrade in 2008 and was then restaged a further three times. This screening is of the 2013 production starring Charlotte Ritchie.

“This intensely dramatic play is a landmark chapter in the city’s theatrical and cultural history.”

Coventry Times

“You really want to know what is going to happen to the characters as the fatal night in November approaches.” The Daily Telegraph

“The special effects are quite stunning it felt like a real bomb had landed on the theatre, shaking the whole building.” The Stage

“If there is any play every person in Coventry should make a point of seeing, this is it.”
