Digital Media Academy

Belgrade Theatre’s Digital Media Academy is back and we’re looking for bold, curious creatives aged 18+ to join our next cohort. 

Whether you’re an aspiring filmmaker, a podcast enthusiast, a YouTube hobbyist or someone who’s never touched a camera but loves a good story – this free, 20-session programme, led by industry professionals, is built to take you from first draft to digital release.

You’ll explore the essentials of digital storytelling, gain hands-on experience with kit and software, and build your confidence alongside a supportive group of fellow creatives. 

Starts: Wed 1 Oct 2025
Sessions: Wednesday evenings, 7-9pm
Location: Belgrade’s ‘The Jag’, Coventry
Cost: Absolutely free 

What’s the Academy all about? 

Over the course of the programme, you’ll learn how to: 

• Develop an idea from concept to completion
• Use industry-standard cameras and editing tools
• Set up shots with confidence
• Work solo and collaboratively on creative projects
• Tell stories that connect, entertain and inspire 

And by the end? You’ll have a finished piece of work for your portfolio – plus practical insights into the world of freelancing, media careers and digital content production.

As a participant, you may have the chance to: 

• Interview artists from Belgrade Theatre’s current productions
• Shadow a professional film set
• Take over Belgrade’s social media for a day
• Join research and development sessions for upcoming shows#
• Meet the theatre’s Artistic Director 

Who should apply? 

This opportunity is for you if: 

• You’re aged 18+
• You’ve got a spark of interest in digital content – even if you’ve never done it before
• You’re based in or near Coventry and can attend weekly sessions
• You want to try something new, grow your skills, and meet like-minded creatives 

We especially welcome applications from people currently underrepresented in digital media spaces – including D/deaf, disabled, neurodivergent and global majority creatives.
