Belgrade Theatre Springboard Initiative
In 2015 the Belgrade Theatre established its Springboard initiative, to support early stage artists and companies to develop to the next chapter of their careers. Through Springboard we provide training opportunities, such as paid Trainee Assistant Director posts; as well as office space, mentoring, communications and fundraising support to our Springboard Companies in the delivery of their productions and events.
We currently host 5 Springboard Companies at the Belgrade:
Noctium is a new and emerging theatre company who graduated from Coventry University in 2014. They explore all things exciting and unusual to create unique pieces of theatre. Their production of The Country Doctor was staged in our B2 auditorium from 20 – 22 July 2016.

Nasren Akhtar Khan
Nasreen is an independent producer based in Coventry who is responsible for co-ordinating the theatre’s annual celebration of Coventry’s South Asian arts and artists, the Belgrade Mela. Nasreen graduated from De Montfort University, Leicester and is a passionate advocate for South Asian arts in Coventry. First launched in 2014, the Belgrade Mela is an annual one-day festival that Nasreen curates and produces in her spare time. The Mela showcases South Asian talent from across Coventry and Warwickshire, with representatives from Coventry’s diverse South Asian communities coming together to celebrate South Asian arts and culture.

HighTime explores and reinvents to bring opera to life in new, vibrant and daring ways. HighTime actively seeks opportunities to bring opera at its very best to places and spaces it isn’t currently found. HighTime was founded in 2014 by Artistic and Executive Directors Felicity Green and Benjamin Hamilton. They aim to fuse sublime music with ambitious theatre, to create extraordinary experiences which truly resonate in the 21st century. Their production Cinderella will perform in B2 from 27 – 29 Oct 2016.
Strictly Arts’ mission is to turn conventional theatre on its head. They aim to create and revisit theatre that inspires all races, creeds and cultures to explore and embrace the differences or similarities we have through the power of live performance. Their production of Green Leaves Fall returned to the Belgrade Theatre from 28 Sept – 1 Oct 2016 followed by Freeman from 7 – 8 Oct 2016. strictlyarts.co.uk
Shoot Festival is a diverse new annual festival which platforms the best of Coventry and Warwickshire’s up and coming talent. The festival includes talks, workshops and performances from early career artists, and a programmed ‘Triple Bill’ of work from artists involved in previous Shoot Festivals. It is the only festival that supports new work being made exclusively in Coventry and Warwickshire, in the CV area.
