SHOWS FOR EVERYONE

A warm welcome to all. We’re working hard to make sure a visit to the Belgrade is easy and enjoyable for everyone.

We hold regular access performances for audiences with specific needs, which you can find on our What’s On page. Search with the Access Enhanced filter. Then click “View Times and Book” when you’ve found the show you’re interested in.

Abbreviations next to the performance date indicate how we support access for different audiences.

AD – Audio Described Performances: Live verbal commentary given through headsets to assist visually impaired and blind patrons. Please note that the signal to your headset may be intermittent if you are seated in rows A to F in the stalls.

BSL – British Sign Language Interpreted Performances: Signers usually stand to one side of the stage and interpret the dialogue being performed to benefit patrons who use sign language.

CAP – Captioned Performances: Subtitles appear on display on either the side of the stage or via a mobile device for deaf or hard-of-hearing patrons.

DE – The Difference Engine, created by Coventry’s Taking Birds, is a discrete tool for making performances and events accessible to D/deaf or hard-of-hearing by delivering captions direct to their own mobile devices.

RP or CH – Relaxed Performances or Chilled Performances – Relaxed Performances are adapted to create a more chilled atmosphere. Usually, the house lights are left on, some of the sound effects are decreased in volume and the doors to the auditoria are left open.

Sometimes, the actors will come out on stage before the performance starts to introduce themselves and to give a short summary of the storyline. Seats are not allocated, and audience members are welcome to come and go as they please and to make as much noise or movement as they want. There are also usually break-out spaces provided in the foyers.

We have also developed our own Access Register scheme to understand our disabled patron’s access needs before their visit and allow them access to carer tickets. For more information about the Access Register and how to join, please download the Information Sheet and accompanied Application Form from the bottom of this page. Screen-reader compatible versions of both documents can be provided on request.

We kindly ask patrons to join the register before booking tickets to allow us to offer them the best accessible seating available. Also, tickets for carers cannot be amended retrospectively.

The Belgrade Theatre now accepts the nationally recognised Access Card to make access to our theatre easier. Please show your Access Card to a member of our Box Office team when handing in your completed Access Register application form and to any other staff member if you require further assistance with your access needs.

Please get in touch with Box Office by phone on 02476 553055 or email at access@belgrade.co.uk if you require assistance finding an accessible performance or seating to meet your needs.
