The Belgrade’s legendary pantomime is an essential part of Christmas celebrations for families right across the region. This year’s show promises to be a fun-filled night, full of magic, mayhem and plenty of pranks and puns to keep audiences both young and old entertained!
You can’t beat the Belgrade when it comes to stunning sets, lavish costumes and fantastic performances and this year we’re delighted to welcome back Iain Lauchlan as the Dame.
Sleeping Beauty tells the tale of the beautiful Princess Belle who is cursed at her Christening by the wicked Fairy Carabosse, which means that on her 18th birthday she will prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die. The good Fairy Azuriel offers some hope. She changes the spell to ensure that the Princess won’t die but will fall into an enchanted sleep for 100 years from which she will only wake if kissed by the one she loves.
Join Nanny Knot, Muddles and the dashing Prince Valiant as they battle with dragons and time machines to ensure that the Prince is ready to wake the sleeping Princess on time.
To make life easier for parents, we’ve changed the start times of the performances on Sat 8 & 15 Dec to 5pm, and Sun 23 Dec to 5.30pm. So now you can bring your little ones to the panto and still get home in time for bed (and X-Factor and Strictly!)
The approximate running time of the show is just over 2 and a half hours, including a 20 minute interval.

“All of the elements that make up a great evening of panto are present and correct… The entire cast were terrific, as incidentally were the backgrounds and sets.” *****
“A superb show, worth a bucket of stars.”
“I was still laughing when I got home – that’s my measure of success. Am I going next year? Oh yes I am …”
We’re pleased to announce that all performances of Sleeping Beauty will be going ahead as normal following the cancellation of the performance on Fri 30 Nov due to technical difficulties.
We apologise for any inconvenience and upset caused by the cancellation of the show. Just to clarify, all patrons will receive a refund on their tickets and we will also try and arrange attendance to an alternative performance. Please call our Box Office on 024 7655 3055 for more information.
Here at the Belgrade we are very keen to stimulate creativity and encourage our audiences to engage with all aspects of the theatre’s work via social media.
As a result we have recently reviewed our policy on photography and, in line with other arts organisations, have decided to amend it.
Visitors are very welcome to take photographs in and around all the public areas of the building.
When attending a Belgrade Theatre production visitors will also be allowed to take photographs in the auditoria once the house is open but before the show starts; during the interval and then after the show.
Photography remains strictly prohibited during the actual performances as it disturbs other theatregoers.
We hope this new policy will allow people to enjoy and share their experiences of the amazing work of the Belgrade in a way that embraces the changing times and available technologies.
