Making Memories

Making Memories

A visit to the theatre is a magical experience and often a treasured memory. Unfortunately, due to financial hardship or illness, many families across Coventry and Warwickshire are not able to make these memories.

Following on from a fantastic campaign in 2017, Making Memories is hoping to help even more local families in need to access theatre.

With your support, we would like to raise £8,400 to help 700 people enjoy the magic of theatre, with tickets to watch our pantomime Sleeping Beauty. We are partnering with Coventry Foodbank again this year to ensure those most in need benefit from the campaign.

The more money we raise the more tickets we can give to children like Daniel whose family is going through a difficult time.

Daniel lives in Coventry with his father and younger sister. Last year, the family’s lives were turned upside down, when Daniel’s mother lost her short fight against cancer – leaving them emotionally and financially stretched. Daniel is football mad, and loves to kick a ball around the park with his dad, but has found it difficult to cope with his mother’s death and his father’s subsequent depression. Daniel is just 9 years of age, and enjoying Sleeping Beauty at the Belgrade will enable him to spend precious time with his family
(Daniel’s name has been changed to protect his identity, but his story is real.)

Here’s a little message from Dame Nanny McWheeze to explain all about the campaign.

Our Making Memories campaign runs all year, so we won’t stop just because the Christmas tree and decorations are no longer in theatre foyer. In fact, thanks to your fantastic support, we were able to provide another 93 tickets for families to watch Horrible Histories in May 2018.

It is also particularly heart-warming to note that, since we started this campaign 6 years ago, you have donated a staggering £33,063 and supported 2,228 people (approximately 500 families) to experience the magic of theatre.

Support Making Memories by donating online:

  • £15 a ticket for a child who wouldn’t otherwise be able to watch this years pantomime
  • £36 1 child ticket and 1 adult ticket to see Sleeping Beauty
  • £60 a family in need with tickets to see Sleeping Beauty

So from all of us at the Belgrade Theatre – THANK YOU

A BIG thank you to Barclays, Coventry Foodbank and Limelight Merchandise for their support of the campaign.
