Belgrade Theatre presents

See It First

Weds 17 to Sat 27 July

Join us at the Belgrade this summer for a programme of new plays, works in progress, workshops and conversations between artists and audiences.

Over 10 days, in July, the Belgrade will become an artistic hub for the region, because we are passionate about new writing, unearthing new stories and sharing them with people who want to see them. See It First is your annual opportunity to see the best shows and engage in workshops and conversations with leading companies making new work, prior to making the journey to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Shows will include My Mother’s Funeral, a darkly comic new drama co-produced with Paines Plough following the success of Strategic Love Play last year, with others to be announced soon!

Other highlights include scratch performances of new work from writers under commission through our partnership with Talawa Theatre, workshops with some of the UKs leading theatre directors and writers including Belgrade’s Creative Director, Corey Campbell, newly installed Artistic Director of the Royal Court Theatre London, David Byrne, and Katie Posner, Co-Artistic Director of Paines Plough.

On Thurs 25 July we will host a day long Deliberative Conversation entitled, Can we just agree on what co creation is? Guest contributors from a across a range of sectors including the arts, social care and manufacturing will share best practice and establish some fundamental principles that can help unlock co creation and its potential to shape new narrative in an ever-changing industry.

See It First is for the curious, for artists in search of inspiration and audiences in search of new adventure.

Save the date and watch this space!
